Miss Foyeke Akinyemi from Iseyin Local Government of Oyo State has emerged the Miss Oyo for 2015.
Akinyemi, 22, emerged winner in a beauty contest with 13 others selected across the 14 federal constituencies in the state held at the Premier Hotel in Ibadan on Sunday evening.
Mr Michael Adeyemo, Speaker of the Oyo House of Assembly, who represented Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, said that the contest was meant to encourage the youth, saying the state would produce Miss Nigeria in future.
He commended the organisers of the contest, urging them not to relent in promoting such events.
Similarly, some members of the House of Representatives from the state, who attended the occasion, described it as “wonderful’’.
Representatives such as Sunday Adepoju (APC-Ibarapa East/Ido), Abiodun Awoloye (APC-Ibadan North), Saheed Fijabi(APC-IbadanSouth West/NorthWest), Temitope Olatoye(APC-Akinyele/Lagelu) and Gbenga Ojoawo (APC-Ibarapa Central/North were at the occasion.
Adepoju, who appreciated the organisers, said that the state could produce a Miss World from the event, urging participants not to shy away from whatever they had passion for.
All the members of the House of Representatives at the programme were honoured for their responsiveness to their immediate communities.
Responding on behalf of other lawmakers at the occasion, Olatoye said that their group — Club 14 — would hand over a brand new car as the star prize to the new Miss Oyo.
The event was attended by Mrs Angela Folarin, wife of a former Senate Leader Teslim Folarin and assemblyman Segun Olaleye, among others.
