Governor Amosun: surprise appointment for Bammeke

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun state, today appointed  Mr. Abidemi Adekunle Bammeke,60, as a Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service.

And the swearing in ceremony for the new Permanent Secretary came on his last day before retirement.

Governor Amosun disclosed that Bammeke was the second person he would appoint as Permanent Secretary on the  final day in service.

 Alhaja Modupe Leshi was also sworn-in as Permanent Secretary on her last day in service on January 6, 2012.

Amosun, while commenting on Bammeke’s elevation on his last day on duty, urged all public servants to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties, adding that, they are being observed and their hard work will be rewarded.

The governor added that Bammeke’s appointment was meant to send signals to government officials not to relent in giving their best.

According to him, “until the last day, your hard work will not go unnoticed. We are doing this to let people know that when you work well, you are not forgotten. You are the second person I’m doing this for.

“This is to show that we appreciate your efforts and send signals that until the last day, your work will not go unnoticed,” Amosun promised.

Speaking with newsmen after his swearing in, the one-day Permanent Secretary, expressed appreciation to the governor for the rare opportunity, which he said, “came not only at the twilight but, at the complete end of my journey.”

Bammeke seized the opportunity to urge his colleagues to be committed to service at all times.

Bammeke started his career in 1981 as a teacher and rose to the post of a Secondary School Principal before he was transferred to the Ministry of Education as a Director.
