A French mansion has broken the world record in being the most expensive property ever sold.

Called the “Chateau Louis XIV after a 17th/18th  century French king sold for $301 million, about N60.2billion, eclipsing  the  record holder – a $221million (£147million) London penthouse.

The house sits on 57 acres of lush, walled off greenery according to a report by Mail Online. It is located between Versailles and Marly-le-Roi

It was completed in 2011 but bares all the hallmarks, furniture and decor of an opulent 17th Century estate.

The property was said to have been bought by an oil Sheikh from the Arab world.
