Manchester United’s minder, Dutch Louis van Gaal wrote his side off Saturday, as not being good enough to beat Norwich City.

The latter had shocked United at Old Trafford, running away with a delicious 2-1 victory.

“We were not good enough to win; that is a fact, we have lost. We have never lost this season at home and we are in a bad period and you can see what (a lack of) confidence is doing to my players,” said Van Gaal after the match.

Norwich’s victory extended United’s  winless run to six games.

Louis van Gaal’s team dominated proceedings once again but were stunned by breakaway goals either side of half-time from Cameron Jerome and Alex Tettey.

Anthony Martial pulled one back with 25 minutes to go but, despite late pressure, the Canaries held on to record their first-ever Premier League victory at Old Trafford and inflict the Reds’ first home defeat over 90 minutes this season.

The loss was too much for the United fans as many on social media called  for the head of the coach.

The football world was buzzing with speculation Saturday night that the United management may sack the coach, making him the second big team manager to be axed in the Barclays Premier League, following the exit of Jose Mourinho of Chelsea FC.

At Stamford Bridge in London, Chelsea playing their first game after the exit of Jose Mourinho beat Sunderland 3-1 and moved two notches up the League table to the 14th.

Tottenham also beat Southampton 2-0 to go fourth on the table and on-fire Leicester beat Everton 3-2 to retain the top spot. Crystal Palace also registered a vital win at Stoke City to claim 29 points and sixth place. Spurs, Manchester United and Palace have same points on the table, separated only by goals difference.
