Nigeria’s  Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN,  has arrived Ouagadougou for  the inauguration of  Mr. Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, as the president of Burkina Faso.

Kaboré emerged last month after general elections in the West African nation.

Nigeria had played a significant role in ensuring the restoration of democracy in the West African country following the September coup by General Gilbert Diendre.

President Buhari in September hosted  an extra-ordinary session of ECOWAS leaders in Abuja regarding the military coup, with the  meeting calling for the restoration of civil rule. This culminated in the November presidential and parliamentary elections in the country.

The Vice President represented President Buhari at the follow-up meeting of select ECOWAS leaders in Ouagadougou. That meeting contributed to the termination of the military coup and restoration of Burkina Faso’s democratic transition.
