The  Executive Council of the southern Nigerian state of Delta  has approved the ‎building  and repair of four roads in the state.‎

The State Commissioner for Information, Patrick Ukah, who announced this during a post executive council press briefing in Asaba on Tuesday, said the development was part of the urban renewal and developmental efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

Ukah said  the roads would bring economic development closer to the people and open up the various communities.

Also present at the press briefing were the state Commissioner for Finance, Olorogun David Edevbie and his Works counterpart, Chief James Augoye.

The Works Commissioner explained that Owa-Eki/Owa-Alero road would be dualized, while the Ughelli-Afisere-Ufoma road would be rebuilt, adding that the Okpare-Umolu-Kiagbodo road would be rehabilitated and the Kefas road, Oleh would be extended to the Emede-Olomoro road junction.

He stated that the ongoing work at Okpanam road would be sped up for quick completion before the rains set in.

On his part, the Finance Commissioner, David Edevbie, explained that the Delta State Government generates an average of N3.5 billion monthly as internally generated revenue.

He disclosed that the state government was able to pay its workers December salary before the Christmas celebration, which he attributed to prudent financial management and discipline on the part of the administration.
