The governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose made a surprising visit to Governor Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola of the State of Osun at the Governor’s House on Tuesday with a message of unity and solidarity among the Yoruba, irrespective of political persuasion.

However, Fayose vowed never to quit the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ). “I am entitled to my views and I will continue to express my opposition. I want you to continue to extend your hand of fellowship to all Yoruba” he said.

In response, his host, Aregbesola, stated: “We are talking about reality. Reality of today is that PDP has served its term in Nigeria. And there is no amount of effort that can revive it.”

However, Fayose vowed never to quit the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ). “I am entitled to my views and I will continue to express my opposition. I want you to continue to extend your hand of fellowship to all Yoruba” he said.

 

Aregbesola further explained the meaning of “Osoko” to mean a versatile politician and that it takes versatility for a man to come from a level he was to take power.

He added: “I recognise his capacity as a grassroots mobiliser. Beyond that capacity is the fact that you do not stand by a dead horse. When a horse is dead, you abandon the horse. You bury the horse. I want my friend to know that PDP has exhausted its power and influence on Nigeria” .

Aregbesola then told his visitor that “there is no battle now, Osoko. The war is over. The war is over. We are in a season of harvest, giving leadership, mobilising people to produce and produce. Africa has suffered a lot.”
