Novak Djokovic remains for now the indisputable king of men’s tennis, underscoring his domination by the way he overpowered Swiss veteran Roger Federer 6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3.

The match, the main attraction in Melbourne after the earlier match between Serena Williams and Agnieszka Radwanska looked one-sided at the outset, with the way Djokovic mauled Federer in the first two sets as if Federer were an amateur.

The Serbian number one wrapped up the the two sets in less than 55 minutes, with a thoroughly subdued Federer offering an inspired resistance in the third set.

Federer won the high quality third set, but fell to Djokovic’s superpower in the fourth, committing more unforced errors, after the two gladiators had shared the set 3-3 apiece.

The victory saw Djokovic edge ahead of Federer for the first time in their head-to-head rivalry, the Serb winning 23 of their 45 career matches.

The world No.1 will look to win a sixth Australian Open crown against Andy Murray or Milos Raonic, who face off in a semifinal on Friday night.
