Provisional death toll was put at three after a double suicide bomb attack in a public school in Kerawa, northern Cameroon. The school serves refugees from Nigeria.

L’oeil du Sahel, which normally keeps tab of the Boko Haram insurgency in northern Cameroon said five people were critically injured out of the 19 affected by the bombers.

Cameroon has been struggling to contain the barbaric violence of Boko Haram militants operating near the border with neighbouring Nigeria. On Wednesday, the authorities shut markets near the Nigerian border.

Also yesterday Cameroon soldiers killed 17 Boko Haram militants, who they pursued into the Nigerian territory.

In Kerawa, a suicide bomber is being actively sought by the police.

Boko Haram has killed thousands of people and driven more than two million people from their homes during its seven-year insurgency in one of the world’s poorest regions.
