Leicester stun Man City at Etihad

Leicester City have widened their lead on the English Premier League to six points after thrashing, second placed Manchester City 3-1 right at their home Base, the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

The league leaders opened scoring on the third minute, thanks to a goal by Robert Huth, who played in the stood in the position, Leicester had placed goal poacher, Jamie Vardy.

City struggled in the first half to neutralise the lead, but all efforts by the attacks failed to yield a goal.

Hopes that the former champions would redeem their image in the second half were dashed as Riyad Mahrez increased Leicester ‘ s lead, just three minutes after resumption of hostilities.

And in the 60th minute, Huth again struck for Leicester.

City’s striker, Sergio Aguero was only able to put the team on the score sheet in the 87th minute, making final scoreline, 3-1, in favour of Leicester, who continue to surprise pundits, with their ability to stay on top of the tightly contested league season.

With the victory, Leicester now have 53 points and Manchester City 47.

Tottenham or Arsenal, with 45 points, could push Manchester City fourth if they win their matches. Tottenham will be playing at home later today against Watford, while under – performing Arsenal hit the road tomorrow to play against AFC Bournemouth.
