A dark horse has emerged on the tail of US Republican frontrunner, Donald Trump as the party’s presidential gladiators go into the second primary test in New Hampshire. He is Ohio governor, John Kasich.

A  string of polls published by Bloomberg,  put Kasich just behind Trump ahead of Tuesday’s primary election.

According to Bloomberg,  a Monmouth University poll released Sunday, Trump holds a steady 30 percent, with Kasich at 14. Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush are tied at 13 percent.

Iowa caucus winner Ted Cruz is polling at 12 percent, while the remaining Republican presidential candidates are polling at or below 6 percent.

Two other super PAC surveys also place Kasich in second.
