The English Premier League turned into a three horse race today, with Tottenham Hotspur beating Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, 2-1 to earn the three maximum points and topple Arsenal for the second position.

A penalty by Harry Kane in the 54th minute and a late strike by birthday boy Christian Eriksen,in the 83rd minute gave  the North Londoners victory, further condemning the Manuel Pellegrini lads to a second defeat by a top four team in the League.

Last week, City also fell at home to Leicester City 3-1.

Manchester City brought in Kelechi Iheanacho in the 66th minute as a replacement for Fernando and in the 74th minute, he helped to cancel Tottenham lead, but only for the sloppy defence to allow 24 year old Eriksen score the winner, on his birthday

With 47 points, City are now trailing leaders Leicester by six points, while Tottenham and Arsenal are four points ahead. There are 12 matches left to play in the increasingly dramatic league season and anything is still possible.

Earlier before the duel at Etihad, Liverpool compounded the woes of bottom leaguer, Aston Villa by banging six goals behind them. Liverpool are now eighth on the table with 38 points, two points better than Watford and Stoke City.
