Nigeria’s male table tennis players at the ongoing Perfect Team Table Tennis Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Tuesday maintained their winning streak.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the players defeated their Slovakian counterparts 3:1 in their day three match.

The team is made up of veteran players Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri and Bode Abiodun.

With the defeat, the players are now leading their group with eight points from four wins in four matches and they are the unbeaten side in Group F of the tournament.

Aruna Quadri told NAN on telephone from Malaysia that the victories could be attributed to hard work and a lot of commitment.

Quadri said that they were in for serious business and would not relent until their mission was accomplished.

“We are on a mission and that is to confirm our participation in the Olympics team event.

“We will do all our best to ensure that our target is accomplished. We will do all within our reach to achieve this.

“We are all working together and it is important for us to be focused. We play each match as they come and forgetting the past victories,’’ he said.

Nigeria, ranked 33 in the world had on Monday climbed to the top of Group F after they defeated biggest group opposition, India 3-0.

Nigeria had also on Monday defeated Switzerland 3-0 and had also in their opening game on Sunday beat Turkey 3-0.

NAN reports that the team Nigeria would play its next match on Wednesday against Vietnam.

The competition is for national teams to gain slots in the team event at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

The Olympic Games are slated for Aug. 5 to Aug. 21. (NAN)
