Bello: uncovers N2.1 billion fraud

Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has vowed to prosecute those connected with a N2.1bn fraud recently discovered in one of the ministries in the state.

Bello, who paid an unscheduled visit to some ministries on Wednesday, lamented the fraud in the account of one of the ministries that he visited.

The governor, who did not reveal the ministry involved, promised to get to the root of the fraud, noting that he was ready to prosecute those involved in the theft.

He said his administration was committed to ending corruption in the state civil service.

Bello warned the workers that his administration would not spare anyone who diverted public funds.

The N2.1bn fraud was in connection with the Kogi State SME funds allegedly diverted by some top directors in the state.

The governor immediately directed the acting Permanent Secretary of the unidentified ministry to give a comprehensive report on the alleged fraud.
