It was gathered that the 68-year-old woman was abducted last Thursday, with one of her adopted sons whose name could not be verified as at press time.

It was gathered that her abductors forcefully took her from her residence at Ikakumo village, in Akoko-Edo local government area of the state, at about 1 am.

It was further learnt that the hoodlums the shot sporadically non stop for about two hours, apparently to scare and intimidate the villagers.

When contacted, Adjoto, who represents Akoko-Edo constituency I in the state assembly, was not willing to comment on the abduction of his mother, but a family member who did not want to be named, said the kidnappers beat their victims before they forcefully took them away.

“They came to our village and started shooting. They took mama away and one of her sons,” adding that the abductors were yet to make any contact with the family for ransom demand,” the source said.‎

Edo police command spokesman, DSP Abiodun Osifo, could not be reached for comment as calls made to his mobile phone could not go through.
