Wike , second right, at the Federal High Court annex

The Governor of Rivers State,  Nyesom Wike, on Friday suspended the state’s Commissioner for Works, Mr Kevin Wachukwu, the same day he inspected some of the projects his government is executing in the state.

Wike, according to his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, in an online statement, stated  that  the suspension was with  immediate effect.

The governor also directed that his Special Adviser on Special Projects should take over the responsibility of  supervising projects in the ministry, in the meantime.

Governor Wike had earlier in the day inspected road and building projects in the state, declaring that politics is over and that it’s time to deliver democracy dividends.

He declared  that  the  Federal  High Court annex being constructed  by the State Government in Port  Harcourt will be  delivered  in August.

The governor  said  that with the rerun  legislative elections  behind, the entire focus of his administration  is to deliver  on campaign  pledges.

He  commended the  contractor  handling  the  Federal High Court annex for the quality of  the job, saying he is impressed by the  output and urged him to maintain  the  tempo to ensure  the  work is delivered  on schedule.

The governor  also visited the  ongoing  construction  of  the  Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ultra Modern Law Centre,  where he also  expressed  satisfaction  with  the  level of work  done so far by the contractor.

He noted that the  new law centre when completed in August will enhance  law practice  in the state.

Governor  Wike inspected  Ozuoba-Rumuosi, Ozuoba-Rumuokparali-Choba and Igbogo-Choba roads, the rebuilding of which he flagged off recently.

He said: “We are finally  done with politics.  Our complete focus is to deliver the dividends  of democracy  to our people as we have always done.

“All efforts and resources are targeted at the development  of  the  state.  I will personally  lead the supervision  of  projects to ensure quality  projects delivery  within approved timelines “.

The governor  inspected ongoing construction   work at the new Chapel of Christian Worship in the  Government House premises.

He was accompanied  on the  inspection  visit by the Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, the Rivers State PDP Chairman,  Bro Felix Obuah and a Member-elect of the Rivers State House of Assembly,
