Barcelona are out of the UEFA Champions League.
The defending champions were soundly beaten by Atletico Madrid 2-0 in the second leg of the quarter -final played in Madrid today.
Antoine Griezmann delivered the brace, the first coming via a powerful header in the 36th minute of the first half. He doubled the goal tally in the 88th minute, via a penalty.
With one goal in the first leg at Camp Nou, Atletico wrapped up proceedings 3-2 .
In the other quarter final of the night, Bayern played 2-2 with Benfica at Estadio da Luz in Portugal, making the aggregate score 3-2.
Raul Jimenez opened scoring for Benfica in the 27th minute. But Arturo Vidal responded 11 minutes after and Thomas Mueller worsened the woes of the hosts in the 52nd minute, scoring a second goal for the visitors. In the 76th minute, Andre Almeida gave the hosts a consolatory equaliser.
But it was of no effect. The Germans won 3-2 aggregate. The victory gave their departing coach, Pep Guardiola a record 7 UEFA Champions League semis, level with Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti.
