The world’s two best footballers, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are now in a virtual tie in the number of goals recorded against their names in La Liga, in the last seven years.

Both players now have 256 goals each, an average of 34 goals a year that profoundly underscores why they are the best goal machines of their generation.

In statistics provided by http://messivsronaldo.net/, the goal count began since Ronaldo moved from Manchester United to Real Madrid. While Messi had made 235 appearances for Barcelona, one more than 234 Ronaldo appearances for Madrid, both players remarkably logged same tally of goals. Messi however has more assists than Ronaldo, 97-75.

In the Champions League, Ronaldo stands ahead of his rival, with similar 73  appearances. While Ronaldo leads with 78 goals with 19 assists, Messi has 66 with 13 assists.

In all competitions however, Messi is the leader.  He has 371 goals to Ronaldo’s 360.  Messi has had 365 appearances for club and country, while Ronaldo has featured for fewer games, 344.
