For Spurs, a night of disappointment

Tottenham Hotspurs hope of catching up with Leicester in the race for Barclays premier league  crown  was severely dented at White Hart Lane today after West Brom snatched a point.

Without kicking the ball, Leicester were handed an advantage that may see them lift the crown on Sunday at Old Trafford if they beat the Luis Van Gaal boys.

Leicester with 76 points now lead by seven points, with three matches to go.

Craig Dawson  was the villain and hero of the match.

The hosts only goal of the match came as a result of Spur’s Christian Eriksen’s free-kick being diverted by Dawson into his own net.

The hosts had already struck the woodwork twice before that opener, and did so for a third time in the second period through Erik Lamela as the Spurs’ frustration gradually increased.

And those nerves soon turned to disappointment as Dawson recovered from his own goal by heading in Craig Gardner’s corner 17 minutes from time.

The draw means Leicester can now seal the most remarkable of BPL crowns by winning at the home of 13-time champions Manchester United on Sunday while Spurs, not in action until they visit Chelsea on Monday, will have to hope for a favour from Louis van Gaal’s men.
