Burial rites for Ooni Ogunwusi’s grandmom begin Friday

The remains of Olori Mariam Ogunwusi, the late grandmother of Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, would be interred in Ile-Ife on Saturday.

The Director, Media and Public Affairs, Ooni’s Palace, Mr Moses Olafare said that the funeral activities would commence on Friday with a service of songs at Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife by 4:30pm.

He added that this would be followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Aiyegbaju, Ile-Ife.

According to him, her remains would be interred at the church cemetery with reception and entertainment of guests at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH), Ground, Phase 2, Gate.

Olafare said further that the deceased was survived by a child, Prince Oluropo Ogunwusi, father of Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

The late matriarch of Ogunwusi Royal family and wife of late Prince Joseph Ogunwusi died on Feb. 8 at the age of 104.
