The Peoples Party of Nigeria, PPN, has got a new chairman to manage the affairs of the party ahead of preparations for the forthcoming elections in the country.

Razak Eyiowuawi, a former National Secretary of the party, emerged as the new chairman of the party in a keenly contested election held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

He defeated the party’s presidential candidate in the 2015 general election, Prince Kelvin Allagoa, by 32 votes to nine in an election that was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, police, operatives of Department of State Services, DSS and other security agencies.

In his acceptance speech, the former Chairman of the party in Ogun state, who was also a former National Vice President of National Councillors Forum of Nigeria, thanked the party members for the trust reposed in him.

He promised not to betray their trust. The party also elected Alhaji Sadauna Abubakar Bello as its new Secretary. He defeated two other candidates for the posts, Ali Omah and Bakare Akin, who polled eight and three votes respectively while Bello garnered 30 votes.
