Shalanga, the pit latrine, common in many seedy areas of cities in the developing world, will be the centerpiece of a humorous new stage play featuring the acting talents of witty OAP Steve ‘Yaw’ Onu and popular comedian Ayo ‘AY’ Makun.

The new play, a satirical take on the past and present of Nigeria in the last one year, is written and directed by Femi Branch.

Holding on Sunday 29 May at the Convention Centre of Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the play ‘Shalanga’ will be the eighth edition of “Yaw Live On Stage”, the flagship platform of Yaw.

“A lot of people do not know that I come from a Theatre Arts background and as such, I have a very keen interest in the complete spectrum of entertainment. This is what I have tried to achieve over the past seven editions of ‘Yaw Live On stage’, and I believe this year’s event is set to be the best ever, incorporating a hilarious stage play, music, dance and comedy into a 360-degree entertainment experience for the audience. It is going to be spectacular,” Yaw remarked on the upcoming event.

According to Yaw, the show, kicking off at 6 pm on the day and to be preceded by the red carpet at 4 pm, will be spiced with music featuring talents such as Phyno, Burna Boy, Korede Bello and Solidstar.

Other performances at the show include sets from Reekado Banks, Naomi Mac, Koker, Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold, CDQ, Splash, Immaculate, Tjan, Vintage Band, Reminisce, Ycee amongst others.
