Odion Ighalo: to be sold in summer

Watford are ready to cash in on Odion Ighalo – less than a year after the striker turned down an astonishing £40million offer from China.

And in his place the London club wants to hire another Nigerian international, Isaac Success, who plays for Granada in Spain, Mail Online reported today.

Ighalo signed a five-year contract with Watford in September 2015 but the Barclays Premier League club are believed to be ready to let the 26-year-old leave in the summer.

The Nigeria international could have left at the start of the season when Hebei China Fortune – the mega-rich Chinese Super League club – offered him £40m over four years to play for them.

Instead he stayed, signed a new deal and is currently on around £30,000 per week. He has 14 Premier League goals for the season but has scored just once in 2016, and an offer of more than £10m could tempt Watford.

When asked about Ighalo on Friday, Quique Sanchez Flores said: ‘It’s impossible to know what happens with the players. Everything is possible in the market in the summer.

‘It’s impossible to predict what will happen in the summer.’

Watford appear to be chasing Granada striker Isaac Success as a potential replacement.
