Apple may need to pay Huawei, a Chinese telecommunications giant, hundreds of millions of dollars over patent licensing for 2015, according to data released by China’s State Intellectual Property Office on Monday.

The Chinese company licensed 769 patents to Apple while Apple licensed 98 patents to Huawei in 2015.

Huawei declined to specify the sum of licensing fees.

The Chinese company has been investing heavily on research and development — a staggering 9.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2015, while Apple, the world’s most profitable tech company, only invested 8.5 billion dollars on research and development
