Man United website is still disquietingly silent on Coach Louis Van Gaal’s fate even as the news circulated worldwide that he has been sacked and that the club would announce Jose Mourinho as his replacement on Tuesday.
Is it a hoax? Is it a mere speculation?
A Guardian blogger was not amused by the silence from Old Trafford and the owners of the club.
“OK, it’s now 2.32pm, the New York stock exchange is open for business, and we still have no announcement from Manchester United. I’m starting to think it’s all a hoax, and that Louis van Gaal and Ed Woodward are in a Carrington office right now reading this blog, laughing maniacally and repeatedly hugging each other. If you’re out there, guys, it’s not funny any more. The joke’s over. You can come out now,” wrote Simon Burnton, with the Twitter address @Simon_Burnton.
“It is understood that the club have made an offer to the Reds most decorated player and number one all-time appearance maker to remain at Old Trafford in some capacity.
“It is not known the job United have outlined to the 42-year-old in the post Louis van Gaal era but they want the Reds legend to remain.
“Giggs is believed to be considering the post United have put on the table for him.
“He has been Van Gaal’s assistant manager for the last two seasons having been previously player coach for David Moyes before his retirement in 2014.
“The former winger was temporary United boss for four matches after Moyes was sacked at Easter 2013 and though he accepted Van Gaal’s invitation to join his backroom staff he did covet the top job one day.
“However, it is believed United do not want to lose his experience and hope he’ll remain.”
