Ganduje

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has directed that no public building in the state should have Gandujiyya inscripted on it. He further directed that any public building already bearing Gandujiyya should be erased.

Gandujiyya is a political movement in Kano State, nursed by the supporters of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje. The movement got its name from Ganduje, the home town of the governor. The slogan of the movement is Gandujiyya Halacci, which literally means Gandujiyya integrity.

The governor, who was apparently dismayed by the branding of a renovated classroom after him at Kureken Sani in Kumbotso local goverment area of the state also directed the Kano State Urban Development Planning Agency, KNUPDA to dismantle billboards, remove posters or any such material promoting him, under the guise of “Gandujiyya”. He noted that APC is the institution to be promoted because it symbolises the vehicle for change under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari. He further explained that APC represents a new beginning in Nigeria with a promising and brighter future. This is contained in a statement signed by Halilu Ibrahim Dantiye, Director General, Media and Communications, to the Governor of the state.

Ganduje argued that it is wrong to personalize public property since government belongs to all, adding that branding public buildings and erection of billboards with the name of any individual not only defaces the structures but also negates the beauty of the environment.

The governor, who was commissioning completed projects and inspecting ongoing ones as part of activities marking his one year in office, thanked the people of Kano for their goodwill and support to his administration urged them to maintain their support towards the success of government’s policies and programmes.

On education, Governor Ganduje expressed happiness that the N10 million released to Kumbotso education promotion committee were judiciously utilized, assuring that more investments would be made in the sector as part of strategies to revitalize it.

The governor appealed to citizens of the state to contribute towards giving education a glorious rebirth in view of its centrality to human development.

In their separate remarks, the chairman of Kumbotso local government council, Alhaji Lawan Isma’ila Unguwar Rimi and a community leader and APC chieftain in the area, Alhaji Mustafa Hamza Buhari (aka Bakwana) thanked the state government for giving priority attention to the sector. He restated the loyalty of their constituents to the government.

In a related development, Governor Ganduje inspected ongoing construction of a QUR’ANIC Model Primary a school at Bunkure town, headquarters of Bunkure local government, where he expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being done.

Meanwhile, Governor Ganduje has stressed the need for more community participation in education, saying the challenges in the sector are too enormous for the government to handle alone.

Speaking during a visit to Rano Special Primary School in Rano local government area, the governor explained that the State Education Promotion Committee was established by his administration to encourage well meaning individuals and corporate bodies to help the government in providing qualitative education public schools in the state.

The governor, therefore, commended Alhaji A. A. Rano for single handedly renovating Rano Special Primary School and providing additional classrooms and furniture, describing the move as a true example of patriotism.
