The former Chairman, Board of Trustee (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Tony Anenih, Wednesday denied rumours that he has died.

He denied the rumours of his death when he personally spoke from London to journalists in Benin.

The social media was on Wednesday awash with reports that the elder statesman died of cancer in a London hospital.

“Thank God, I am hale and healthy. I have not visited hospital. I am speaking to you personally. I don’t know where those people got their information from.

“God has extended my life span beyond their expectation and He will still extend my life span beyond what i also expected,” Anenih said.

Meanwhile, political associates of the elder statesman have also denied the rumour going rounds that he has passed away.

Two of his associates, Edo State chairman of the PDP, Chief Dan Orbih, and a former youth leader of the party in the state, Barrister Vincent Akhere, described the claims as total fabrication and handiwork of mischief makers.

Speaking to journalists on phone, Barrister Akhere, said he spoke with Chief Anenih on phone on Wednesday morning.

He added that Chief Anenih travelled to London on Tuesday and that he would be back in the country weekend.

“I spoke with him on phone about 15 minutes ago. Chief is well, alive and kicking. We even joked over the matter. It is true that Chief had a surgery not too long ago but he is fine now,” he said.

Also speaking, Chief Orbih simply said that the rumour was unfortunate, adding that the people behind it should ask God for forgiveness.‎
