Real Madrid have won the UEFA Champions League, edging Atletico 5-3 in  penalty shootout.

Lucas, Marcelo, Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos  were flawless for Madrid, but Juan Fran missed  for Atletico, after Antoine Griezman, Gabi and Saul Niguez had scored.

It was left for striker Cristiano Ronaldo to settle matters. He stepped forward and placed the winning shot in a corner, giving no chance for keeper Jan Oblak and handing Madrid their 11th UEFA champions league trophy.

The trophy is the first to be won by Coach Zinedine Zidane since he took over from Spanish Coach, Rafael Benitez.  Zidane has also become the 8th coach in history to win the competition in his debut campaign!
