Nigeria-Cameroon troops capture Boko Haram commander

Boukar Kaou, a Boko Haram commander has been captured by a joint military task force made up of troops from Cameroon and Nigeria.

Kaou, along with five of his lieutenants  was  captured, during a raid between  10  and 11 May  of the Madawaya forest near the border with Cameroon.

The troops killed  58 militants,  Issa Tchiroma Bakary, a spokesman for Cameroon’s government said in a statement read on state radio.

No soldiers died and 46 hostages were freed, including 18 women and 28 children, according to the statement.

Three Boko Haram camps were destroyed and a consignment of weapons was found.
