Nearly two-thirds of registered U.S. voters believed neither Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, nor Hillary Clinton, the Democratic front-runner, is “honest and trustworthy”, according to a latest New York Times/CBS News poll released Friday.

The poll found both of them remain unpopular nationwide while heading towards the general election in November.

Fifty-five percent of voters view Trump unfavorably with 26 percent seeing him favorably. Clinton fares little better, with 52 percent viewing her unfavorably and 31 percent seeing her favorably instead, showed the poll.

The poll is based on telephone interviews conducted May 13 to 17 with 1,300 adults throughout the United States, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points. Of those, 1,109 said there were registered to vote.

Their soaring levels of unpopularity are extraordinary for the likely nominees of the two major parties, a New York Times report commented, calling this election cycle “no ordinary year”.
