The Zamfara Government has introduced new allowances to corps members serving in rural areas of the state.

The state Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, announced this while speaking at the closing ceremony of Batch “A” 2016 corps members posted to the state at permanent orientation camp in Tsafe Local Government Area of of the state on Friday. But the governor did not give a figure of what will be paid.

Yari, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abdullahi Shinkafi, said that giving special allowances to corps members posted to rural areas became necessary, considering the task before them in serving in such areas.

The governor said the state government would cooperate with the management of NYSC in the state to improve the welfare of
members serving in the state.

He added that “these young ladies and gentlemen have been deployed to serve in Zamfara for one year; the state government will do everything possible to ensure that they are well, secured and comfortable.”

He then urged the corps members to pay attention to the activities and programmes of Service in order to benefit from the scheme.

“Part of the NYSC activities is entrepreneurship and skill acquisition programme which was introduced by the Federal Government aimed at equipping corps members with various skills for them to become self reliant in future,” he added.

Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Malam Ballama Bello, said 1,600 corps members were deployed to the state
as Batch “A” 2016 steam1 for one year national service, and all of them reported to camp and discharged successfully.

Ballama commended the support and assistance given to the scheme’s activities in the state.

He, however, appealed to the state government to assist in improving the condition of the NYSC permanent orientation camp.
