President Muhammadu Buhari, today, returned to Nigeria after his medical trip to London. To demonstrate the state of his physical fitness, he jokingly told State House correspondents: “Do you want to wrestle me?” Everyone bent double with glee.

On Monday, 6 June, Buhari left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on a 10-day medical trip to treat an ear infection. He was due to return to Abuja at the expiration of the 10-day leave last Thursday. But Vice, Osinbajo said he would stay back in London to rest a while.

Speaking to State House Correspondents shortly before the commencement of the National Economic Council, NEC meeting on Wednesday, Osinbajo, according to Vanguard, said the president would come back on Sunday. He added that the president was in good health. “The President will be back on Sunday. I spoke with him yesterday evening and I think it is just the best that he takes the weekend off. He will certainly be back on Sunday.

Buhari had so far embarked on holiday twice this year. The President had earlier embarked on a six-day holiday between February 5 and 10, 2016.

Like the case of the second visit, Buhari remained in London throughout the first holiday. He had earlier granted an interview where he said the doctors he had been consulting since the 1970s were based in London.

Buhari had, before leaving the country, written to the National Assembly to inform the federal lawmakers of his medical trip.

He had indicated in the letter that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would perform the duties of the President while he would be away.
