Hangman noose

Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ikole-Ekiti has sentenced two men, Segun Adeyemo and Babaniwura Gboye, to death by hanging for murder.

Justice Abiodun Adesodun held that Adeyemo and Gboye on September 11, 2011 at Iluomoba Ekiti intentionally murdered one Sikiru Amadu and Yeti Abubakar with dangerous weapons.

Adesodun observed that such offence was criminal in nature as the evidence before the court had proved that the death of Amadu and Abubakar was caused by the convicted persons.

The prosecution counsel, Femi Onipede, called five witnesses and tendered photographs of the deceased as exhibits to convince the court.

Counsel to the accused, Bode Kowe, called three witnesses to prove their innocence.

Adeyemo and Gboye had been on trial since September 2013.
