Niger Delta Avengers, the group that has been destroying oil production facilities in the oil producing region of Nigeria put two requests before President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday.

The requests were probably responses to an appeal by the President to the group and others to stop the destruction of oil installations that has reduced Nigeria’s oil production to about 50 per cent, thereby putting Nigeria’s economy under great strain to desist from the destructive activities at a dinner with chieftains of ruling All Progressives Congress, APC on Friday.

The first request, as stated the group’s twitter account is for the President to like it happened in the United Kingdom last Thursday call for a referendum that will allow Nigerians to decide if they want the country to remain as an entity.  

“President Buhari borrow a leaf from PM David Cameron, call for a referendum and let Nigerians decides like they did to vote you into Power,” the group said.

Niger Delta Avengers backed the request with a map of Nigeria in which five different countries have already been carved out.

The second request by the group is for the President to visit all the oil producing communities hosting the multinational oil corporations in the Niger Delta to see the sufferings the local populace was being subjected to.

NDA, in the statement published on its website signed by its spokesperson,  Brig.Gen Moduch Agbinibo said, “The Nigeria President Buhari should visit  Ugborodo host to Chevron  crude oil Export terminal/EGTL gas plant, Ogulagha host to Shell Forcados Crude Oil Export terminal/tank farm, Bonny Island host to Shell Bonny Crude Oil Export terminal/NLNG gas terminal, Brass host to Agip/ENI export terminal, Ibeno host to ExxonMobil Qua Iboe crude export terminal.

“These are just the export terminals not talking about the numerous oil and gas flow stations and the oil Wells that criss cross the length and breadth of the Niger delta.

“Mr. President, come and see for yourself what the host communities are going through in the hands of Nigeria government and the multinationals,” the group said.
