Governor Okezie Ikpeazu

Justice Okon Abang of Federal High Court, Abuja has adjourned hearing in the stay of application filed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State.

In the application, the Governor is asking the court to order a stay of execution of his last Monday’s judgment.

Justice Abang had in the ruling asked Ikpeazu to vacate office over allegations that he provided false information on the tax clearance certificate he included in the nomination form he submitted to Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to contest the election.

The Judge had ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Uche Ogah, who came second in the 2014 Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primary.

In the application, Governor Okezie is asking the court to order a stay of his order.

He also asked the court to vaccate the order asking him to immediately vaccate office as governor.

The Judge refused to vacate the order which he said was properly made.

He however adjourn hearing in the matter to 7 July to enable the parties study different applications filed on the matter.

Okezie has also filed an appeal against the judgment at the Abuja division of Court of Appeal.
