Gangs behind kidnapping of Catholic Nuns, murder of 2 soldiers in DSS net

Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Service, DSS on Saturday announced the arrest of notorious criminals, principally notorious militants, kidnap gangs and members of Boko Haram insurgents in different parts of the country.

 

In a statement issued on its behalf by Tony Opuiyo, the Service announced that it has arrested and busted different gangs behind some of the recent kidnapping incidents and other criminal activities, including killing of soldiers in different parts of the country.

 

The secret Police said in the statement that its operatives have arrested one Stephen Mamayebo, aka Oscar in connection with the kidnap of an expatriate staff of Setraco Construction Company and subsequent murder of two soldiers- namely Garba UMAR/Sgt and Bashir KABIRU/Pte, along Ogbia-Nembe road on 5th April, 2016.

 

DSS said the suspect was arrested on last Thursday at OMPADEC Primary School in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

 

Also, the secret police said three members of a notorious kidnap gang who have been terrorizing travelers along the Abuja – Kaduna Highway and environs were arrested by its operatives last Wednesday.

 

The suspects, identified as Ismaila Shuaibu, Kabiru Nasiru and Inusa Abdullahi, according to DSS were arrested during a tactical raid at Travelers Mosque, along Kaduna-Zaria Highway, according to the Service.

 

Also in DSS net, as indicated in the statement was one Esan Abiodun, aka Maiyegun, a member of the Reuben Akibehinje-gang which, according to the secret police, masterminded the kidnap of two Catholic nuns and their driver in Akure, Ondo State recently.

 

The Service said the suspect was arrested on 17 July at Idi-Mango Ore area in Odigbo LGA of Ondo State while he was coordinating plans to hijack fuel-supply tankers in Oyo State.

 

The suspect, DSS said is currently under detention with five other members of his criminal gang with whom he had allegedly masterminded the hijack of several fuel tankers in Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Kwara and Kogi States respectively.
