The Federal Government on Saturday promised to do everything to ensure that killers of Mrs. Eunice Elisha Olawale, a Redeemed Christian Church of God deacon and an evangelist who was murdered while preaching in Kubwa, a suburb of Abuja are brought to book.

President Muhammadu Buhari who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal said this during funeral service for the murdered Ekiti born evangelist in Abuja.

He also added that the government will ensure that every Nigerian ia able to freely practice his or her religion. “As a government, we want to inform you that all the perpetrators of this act will not go free and will be brought to book. All Nigerians should be safe and free to practice their religion anywhere. Government’s resolve is to fish out the perpetrators.

“We pray to God not only to forgive them, but pray that the perpetrators seek for repentance. On behalf of the President and the Federal Republic of Nigeria, may God console you, the SGF said.

At the service, the late Eunice’ 15-year-old first daughter, Jessica, read a scripture from the book of Revelations 20:7-15 while Pastor CAF Obasa who delivered the sermon  urged Christians to continue with the propagation of the gospel even in the face of persecution.

Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity was also part of the well attended the service.

The slain preacher was later buried amidst tears in Gudu cemetery at Apo area of Abuja.

The preacher and mother of seven children was buried on her birthday, July 23.

She was stabbed to death while preaching in the early hours of the morning by yet to be identified culprits on 9 July around the Gbazango area of Abuja.

She was left in the pool of her blood with her bible and bell beside her until the Police was alerted.
