The Senate of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU Ife would meet on Thursday to pick an Acting Vice Chancellor for the crisis ridden university.

The university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju said the Senate of the University, comprising serving professors has been duly notified of the directive to choose an acting Vice Chancellor for the higher institution which was a directive from President Muhammadu Buhari.

“The Senate will meet on Thursday, 21st July, 2016. But the campus is peaceful like graveyard. The law of the university says that the Senate must be given 72 hours notice of meeting.

“The president gave the directive on Monday and the 72 hours notice will lapse on Thursday, for adequate convergence of the meeting,” said Olanrewaju.

He added that all the professors will meet and pick one of them with high profile and integrity as an Acting VC.

According to him, the name and profile of the person chosen will be forwarded to the Minister of Education for transfer to President Buhari for approval and consequent announcement to the public after the Senate meeting.
