Ribadu: returned to APC

Former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Friday announced that he has returned to the All Progressives Congress.

“I have finally heeded the calls on me to return to the All Progressives Congress, a party of which I was a founding member,” Ribadu said on his Facebook page.

Ribadu wa a presidential candidate of the defunct All Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN in the 2011 general elections.

He left the party which merged with others to form the now ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in 2104.

Ribadu contested the governorship of Adamawa State as a candidate of Peoples Democratic Party in the 2015 general elections and lost to the APC candidate.

Ribadu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police said on his Facebook page on Friday that he registered as a member of the APC on Thursday through the party’s online portal.

He added that after that, the leadership of the party in his Bako ward of Yola South Local Government Area visited him in his Yola residence to welcome him back to their fold.

“My decision to return to the APC was triggered by my believe that all politics are local.

“Almost everyone around me, and with whom we started my political journey believed the time had come for us to make sacrifices and make concessions,” the former EFCC Chairman said.

Ribadu said he left APC because of fundamental disagreements with the ways the chapter of the party in his state was being run then.

The former presidential candidate said his return to the APC was also influenced by events in the last 15 months, which, according to him “have addressed many of the issues and healed some of the wounds and the genuine and sincere invitations he has received since last year to return to the party.
