Peter Ogaba, a former Nigerian International is dead, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF said on Friday.

NFF stated at its twitter handle, that Ogaba, 42 who was the coach of Abuja based City Strikers died at his residence in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT after a brief illness.

While describing the death of the player as a shock, NFF noted that Ogaba is famous for being the youngest Nigerian player at the FIFA U-20 World Cup hosted by Saudi Arabia in 1989 where Nigeria lost in the final to eventual winners, Portugal.

“We are shocked to hear of the sad demise of fomer Junior Int’l Peter Ogaba. Ogaba was part of the Eaglets at Canada 87, Ogaba made Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets team at the age of 13 before playing for a professional club,” the NFF said in a tribute to the player.

Ogaba also played football for different clubs in Europe.
