The Senatorial leader of All Progress Congress (APC), in Ondo State south senatorial District Ondo State, South West Nigeria, Dr. Taiwo Malumi,was today arraigned before a Federal High Court, sitting in Lagos, over an alleged Fraud of N40 million.

Malumi, a medical doctor, who is also managing Director of Funtai Limited, in a one count criminal charge number FHC/L/302C/16 filed before the court by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police Force was alleged to have fraudulently obtained the sum of N40 million from one Nick Shaiyen, the Managing Director of a limited liability company Whitehall Management Limited.

He was alleged to have obtained the said money from the victim with representation that he sold to him a property known as Unit B9, situated at Funtai Court, 3, Ruxton Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, which he falsely presented to him as being free from all encumbrances.

According to the prosecutor, Mr. Ekong Sunday,the offence committed by the APC man contravened section 1(1)(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud related Offences Act, 2016.

The APC Senatorial leader pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Attempt by his lawyer, Mr. Olumide Esan, to have his bail application heard was not successful as he was unable to present the summon for bail he lately filed before the court. The prosecutor also told the court that he needed time to respond to the application.

The presiding judge, Abdulaziz Anka,while adjourning till 6th October, 2016 for the trial of the accused politician to commence ordered that he should be remanded in prisons custody.
