Salkida: wanted

Nigerian Army on Sunday declared Ahmed Salkida, a journalist known for access to the leadership of Boko Haram insurgent group wanted.

The declaration of the Salkida, now living in United Arab Emirate wanted by the Army followed the release of a video on twitter by the journalist on Sunday morning showing some of the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram pleading with government to release the members of the insurgent group in detention to facilitate their own release by the terrorist group.

AP said the video was released on twitter by Salkida.

The journalists who used to live in Maiduguri was known to be close to Mohammed Yusuf who was extra judiciously killed in 2009 by the police at the beginning of the uprising of the group whose real name is Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad(People Committed to the Propagation of the Prophet’s Teachings and Jihad).

The journalist who worked with some Nigerian newspapers said an interview that he used to attend sermons of the late Boko Haram founder.

He had also released key information about the operations and attacks by the group, including unveiling the identity of the suicide bomber who carried out the suicide attack targeted at Hafiz Ringim, a former Inspector General of Police in 2010.

Wakili: also wanted

Salkida who said he left the country as a result of victimization by security operatives over his links to the insurgents had insisted that the Chibok girls are alive.

He has also been part of negotiations to free the girls in the past. The other person declared wanted by the military was Aisha Wakili, who was also part of the efforts to dialogue with Boko Haram insurgents during the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

She caused a stir when she appeared at the inauguration of the Committee set up to negotiate with the insurgents covered from head to toe in dark coloured dress.

Also declared wanted by the military is one Ahmed Bolori.

In a Twitter message the army said: “NIGERIAN ARMY DECLARES AHMED SALKIDA (AMBASSADOR) AHMED U BOLORI AND AISHA WAKIL WANTED.”
