Police and other sister security agencies in Rivers State have commenced a manhunt for the abductors of 14 workers of Nestoil Plc who were kidnapped by yet to be identified gunmen in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It was learnt that the oil 14 workers were kidnapped Friday afternoon around the now dangerous Omoku-Elele link road.

Although details surrounding the abduction is sketchy, it was however learnt that the gunmen forcefully diverted the Company’s Costa bus which was carrying the company’s workers to an unknown destination under heavy gunfire by the bandits.

The abducted workers were returning to Port Harcourt after a close of work when they were ambushed.

Nestoil company management are yet to speak ugly development.
However the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, not confirmed the incident, he assured that crack teams of anti-kidnapping have been drafted to area and are combing the bushes and working on possible tips.

Omoni hinted that the Coaster bus carrying the workers had be located where it was abandoned and efforts are being made rescue the oil workers.

Ironically,the abduction of the oil workers happened on the same day that a collation of Civil Societies staged peaceful protest to the Rivers State Police command demanding the Police and Department State Security Service investigate and fish out assassins that the Port Harcourt based human rights lawyer, Late Ken Atsuwete and improve on the security architecture to fight crime throughout the state that has totally deteriorated.

Last month,a passenger Coaster bus carrying 14 passengers was hijacked in similar circumstance by criminals who disguised as military men in army camouflage in a road block on the Elele-Isokpo road before they were rescued by the Police unhurt.

The abduction of the oil workers has sent panic and raised security concerns among the workers in the oil industry.
