Resident Doctors under the canopies of the Association of Resident Doctors, ARD, at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital have suspended its two months old strike.

Members of the association embarked on the strike on the 3rd of August citing poor management, non-payment of full salary for doctors, incessant cases of robbery, lack of consumables amongst others.

The suspension of the strike was announced at a joint press conference led by the Chief Medical Director of UPTH, Professor Aaron Ojule and representatives of ARD

The Public Relations Officer of ARD at UPTH, Chibuzor Mbanasor, told journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers Capital, that the strike was suspended following an agreement reached after series of meeting with the association and the management of the hospital.

Meanwhile, the chief medical director of UPTH Professor Aaron Ojule said all issues in contentions with the doctors have been resolved amicably.

Professor Aaron Ojule assured the public of an uninterrupted improved quality health care delivery services at the hospital.

The leadership of ARD at the UPTH has directed all resident doctors to resume work today by 8am following the suspension of the strike.
