Innoson Group of Companies is partnering with some Chinese investors to invest 1 billion dollars in Nigeria.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the investment has been completed.

The Chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, disclosed this to the State House correspondents after leading  the Chinese investors to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja on Monday.

According to Chukwuma, the investments will cover digital television cooperation, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and other sectors.

“I came here today with a delegation from China that  wants to invest in Nigeria. They are here today to establish our cooperation with the company.

“They are investing in digital television cooperation, IT solutions and other things. They are ready (to invest in the country); all the approval has been gotten so we will start immediately.

“They want to invest 1 billion dollars in Nigerian economy.’’

On the presidential amnesty programme, in which his organisation had trained some ex-militants, Chukwuma said some of the former militants had been trained as pilots, auto engineers and others professions.

“Amnesty programme is one of the programmes that yield a lot of things to Nigeria.

“Those ex-militants have been converted to be good workers (in ) everywhere because government spent money and trained them and they are doing well.

“They are no longer trouble to Nigeria; they are now serving Nigeria. So, I believe that is a very good initiative by the Federal Government.They have been converted.’’

NAN also  reports that Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company had trained  and employed 200 ex-militants as workers.(NAN)
