A Nigerian militant group,  Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Tuesday claimed it has destroyed an export line belonging to Chevron Nigeria Limited at Escravos in the Warri South West Council Area of Delta State.

The militant group which has claimed responsibility for successive attacks on Nigeria’s oil installations said it strike team took down the export pipeline at about 3:45am on Tuesday morning.

There has been no independent confirmation of the attack.

While claiming responsibility for the attack in a statement by its spokesman, Mudoch Agbinibo, NDA said the action followed the disobedience of its order that there should be no repairs of all oil installations it has previously destroyed pending the proposed dialogue between federal government and leaders of the region on how to tackle problems arising from oil production and sharing of revenue from the resource.

The militant group had halted its bombing of  oil facilities since it announced a ceasefire and mandated the Chief Edwin Clark led Pan Niger Delta Group to hold talks with the Federal Government on its behalf.

Reports indicate that the Federal Government may meet with representatives of the Niger Delta in actualization of the proposed dialogue next week.

The statement read, “Today at about 3:45am our strike team 06 took down Chevron Escravos export pipeline at Escravos offshore.

“This action is to further warn all IOCs’ that when we warn that there should be no repairs pending negotiation/dialogue with the people of the Niger Delta, it means there should be no repairs.

“Any attempt to use dialogue to distract us so as to allow the free flow of our oil will halt the dialogue process.”
