Lawyers on Monday in Abuja protested alleged continued disobedience of court orders by the Department of State Services (DSS).

The lawyers, who marched to the Federal High Court Headquarters in Maitama, the Attorney General’s Office, National Human Rights Commission, were supported by Civil Society Organisations.

The protesters also marched to the three Arms Zone, which hosts Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Supreme Court and the National Assembly.

The lawyers demanded that judges must not step down from handling cases involving the DSS as it would amount to victory for the security outfit.

They called on judiciary workers to go on strike until the DSS obeyed all pending court judgments.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the DSS had been accused of disobeying several court orders since 2015.

NAN also recalls that the services had refused to obey court judgment to release the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd).

Efforts to speak with officials of the services on the protest failed as none of them pick the calls put across to them by NAN. (NAN)
