Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State said his administration would not probe the administration of his predecessor, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.

Ganduje stated this at an interactive session with newsmen in Sokoto on Saturday.

He said, “though there are so much issues of probe across most of the states and the country, but in Kano State, I will not probe the past administration.

“We are only committed to ensuring that all government’s uncompleted projects and programmes left by the past administration are put into use for the benefits of our state.

“Moreover, we will ensure completion of all projects that are due and genuine as well as initiate more in such direction for the overall development of the society,” he said.

The governor also said that their retreat in Sokoto was aimed at discussing issues relating to the party as an institution in order to design a change in the party administration.

“This is to change the usual tradition of party administration in Nigeria, as once election has held, usually, political parties go into hiding and become inactive.

“So, we are all here in Sokoto in order to deliberate on how we can strengthen our party in Kano State  and address the demands of the masses, ” he said.

Ganduje said that the political party leader will as well be educated in order to maintain the internal democracy in the system.

N10bn monthly revenue

Gov. also said his administration is targeting a monthly revenue of over N10 billion.

“The state government was netting between N500 million and N600 million monthly when we came in 2015.

“However, the monthly revenue generation has now hit over N3 billion and we are not satisfied,” he said.

Ganduje further said that the state legislature was now reviewing the various revenue laws to bolster its generation.

According to the governor, the state government would not take any measures that will aggravate the suffering of the people.

“The people of the state are now willingly paying their taxes as they have seen what we are doing with their money.

“We are using internally generated revenue to execute specific capital projects.

“We are even erecting signposts indicating that such projects were executed with IGR,” Ganduje,” said.

The governor promised to continue to run the affairs of the state honestly, transparently and openly.

Ganduje pledged that the scarce revenue accruing to the state would continue to be spent judiciously with the fear of God.

The governor, however, acknowledged that one of the most formidable challenges to the state government now was tallying the huge demands for social services with scarce resources. (NAN)
