Boko Haram members: Sharing a joke about them in Cameroon could land you in jail!

Three Cameroonians- Fomusoh Ivo Feh, Afuh Nivelle Nfor and Azah Levis Gob10 will spend the next 10 years in jail for sharing a joke related to Nigerian based extremist group, Boko Haram in a text message.

Amnesty International said in a statement on Wednesday that the three men were sentenced by the Military Court of Yaounde for “non-denunciation of terrorist acts.”

According to the human rights group, one of the accused, Ivo had forwarded a text message that made a sarcastic reference to the extremist group to the two other accused men.

Amnesty however asked the Cameroonian authority to release the three men unconditionally, saying they were exercising their right to freedom of expression.

The right group, according to AP, also raises concerns about trials of civilians in military courts. Boko Haram has also carried out deadly attacks that claimed many lives in Cameroon.
