Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on the affirmation of his electoral victory by the Supreme Court today.

Governor Okowa while commending the judiciary for upholding the sanctity of the peoples mandate, thanked Bayelsans for their support to the PDP and the Restoration Government of Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, on Tuesday in Asaba, Governor Okowa, said that by this judgement, the Supreme Court, lifted a burden off the shoulders of well meaning people of Bayelsa State and tasked Governor Dickson to reciprocate the gesture by running an inclusive government.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate you on your hard earned victory at the Supreme Court today.

“Bayelsa State, her friends and neighbours waited with baited breath for this favourable judgment. Your ‘long walk’ to victory must not be taken for granted. You must reward the state with open, transparent and purposeful leadership. Bayelsa people can’t settle for less” Governor Okowa noted.

“The Supreme Court’s affirmation of your election is a fulfillment of the clearly expressed wish of the people of Bayelsa State, I therefore urge you to be humble and magnanimous in victory, remain focused and ever committed to your Restoration Agenda and work for the advancement of the interests of all Bayelsa people irrespective of their political affiliations or loyalties,” adding “The judgement of the apex court in this case is a victory for our democracy and a reaffirmation of the divine mandate freely given to Governor Dickson and the PDP by the people of Bayelsa State and commended the Apex court for ensuring the sanctity of the people’s mandate.

“The ruling of the Supreme Court will go a long way in restoring the hope and confidence of the Nigerian people on the sanctity of the judiciary.
